Rights Respecting School

Article 3 The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all things that affect children.

Article 12   Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.

Article 13 Every child must be free to say what they think and to seek and receive all kinds of information, as long as it is within the law.

Article 15 Every child has the right to meet with other children and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights.

We have an elected group of young people from Y1-Y6 who are committed to ensuring that the Rights of the Child are embedded within all that we do at Haimo Primary School.

They meet regularly to work together on ensuring that our ethos, vision, plans and policies are all linked to the rights as set out in the convention that was ratified by the UK parliament in 1991.

They are becoming experts on what the rights are and what they can look like in practice.

The Ambassadors will take part in a wide range of events both in school and beyond and will promote all children having access to their rights around the world through various campaigns and events.

This group forms part of the Haimo School Parliament which meets termly.
