Year 1 and 2
Welcome to the Year 1 and 2 page. This term, we are looking forward to learning about some exciting topics and producing some fantastic work.

Year 1
This term, Year 1 will be exploring various fiction and non-fiction texts including ‘Bold Women in Black History’ in English. In Maths, we will be learning how to read, add and subtract numbers to 10 and 20 and will also be learning the names of different 2D and 3D shapes.
Year 1 are looking forward to exploring the life of Walter Tull in History and different weather patterns in Geography. We will be investigating animals and humans in Science and various aspects of different religions, with a focus on Christianity in Religious Education.
Year 2
In English, we will be exploring the animation ‘My Christmas Star’ and various texts including ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ . In Maths, we will be learning about addition and subtraction, place value using numbers to 100 and the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
In History, we will be learning about how communication has changed over time; exploring the significance of William Caxton, Sir Tim-Berners Lee and Ada Lovelace. We will be exploring living things and their habitats in Science and as part of our Music and RE, we will be working extra hard practising for the Nativity – Busy Busy Bethlehem!
