Year 1 and 2

 

Welcome to the Year 1 and 2 page. This term, we are looking forward to learning about some exciting topics and producing some fantastic work.

Year 1

 

This term, Year 1 will be exploring the traditional tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, among other picture books and various non-fiction texts in English. In Maths, we will be learning how to read and count numbers to 50 and will be introducing how to measure length, height, mass and capacity.

Year 1 are looking forward to exploring Eltham Palace in History and our local area in Geography. We will be investigating seasonal changes and plants in Science and various aspects of different religions, with a focus on Sikhism and Christianity in Religious Education.

 

Year 2

 

In English this term, Year 2 will be basing their sentence stacking lessons the texts 'Little Red Reading Hood' by Lucy Rowland, 'The Day the Crayons Quit' by Drew Daywalt and 'The Building Boy' by Ross Montgomery. 

In Maths, we will be focusing on money, multiplication and division, length and height as well as mass, capacity and temperature.

Year 2 have lots of exciting topics in humanities this term. In Science, we will be exploring everyday materials. In R.E, we will be learning about Islam, where the topic begins with some very exciting parental visitors! In Geography, we will be looking at seas and coasts. Our History topic is all about the Great Fire of London in 1666. 

In P.E, the children will be practicing their gymnastics skills and learning how to safely get out and put away various equipment.
